Defenders 006: Windrunner

Well, that didn’t take long. I’ve already managed to fall behind on this little exercise, but here is Defender 006 nonetheless. Windrunner is another one of those tricky too-human looking heroes (like Drow), so again I am relying heavily on the colour to provide identity. Perhaps too much so.

I didn’t really want to fall into the trap of colouring the portraits exactly like their respective heroes, but this was just too natural to pass up. I really like the interplay between the orange and reds of autumn with the greens of summer/spring, which not only matches WR’s model, but also her lore as the ranger archetype.

Here she is, in all her gingery glory.

I looked for something universal, not to geeky.. that I could be proud of where people are ignorant of Dota.

And I think this is it, because she is archetypal ranger, female robin hood, cute chick with arrows.. everyone can see how cool that is.
