Defenders 020: Doombringer

No one really voted in the Pudge thread, so I decided today I’d choose a hero that I’ve been wanting to do for a long time. <3 Doombringer.

Lately, I’ve been using the model viewer as reference for my portraits. Originally, I was using the in game animated portraits, but they’re pretty low res. The model viewer let’s me get in good and close to see exactly what’s going on. While I was looking at Doom’s model, I noticed it was actually three different model files: body, weapon, and helm. Now, maybe there’s some technical reason that those big-ass horns couldn’t be a part of the main model, but my first thoughts were:

1. So, those aren’t his horns? :(
2. Hats are coming, and there’s not a goddamn thing we can do about it.

It is very, very, very likely that there will be in game cosmetic items that you can add to your heroes (a la TF2). A few such items have even been found referenced in the game files. Personally, I like cosmetic items. I never buy them, and rarely use them, but I like that they exist, and I find the virtual economy that they have created (at least in TF2) fascinating. Seriously. Read some of this:

The earbuds are a valuable item. It might better to hold onto this item, because the value will only rise. The earbuds are worth slightly less than 2 Bill’s hats. In most cases, the earbuds are sold for 14 keys, 6-8 good vintage hats, or about $20 USD.

But there are those who are staunchly opposed to them, and for good reason. Some claim they can ruin the flavour of the game, and potentially make heroes more difficult to recognize at first glance.

This is an Egyptian guy fighting for freedom this January and TAPED BREAD TO HIS HEAD! I assume he did this to absorb the blow from the rocks that were hurled between the supported and detractors of Mubarak. It’s just amazing to me that he was so resourceful and used everything at his disposal to fight for what he believed in, that he taped bread to his head. He looks like a goofball, but he looks like he couldn’t care less, freedom is all he wants. We can debate whether or not Egyptians got what they wanted through the revolt, but while it was happening it was a pure endeavor.

The point is, guy taped bread to his head to fight police and other people throwing rocks at his head. I want a bread hat in Dota 2. Maybe if the add stats on them like TF2 (OH GOD PLEASE NO), he could have a bonus defense against Tiny’s Avalanche ;)

This is the best hat (yes it is a hat) I have ever seen. The game it is from is called Demon’s Souls. You had a chance of getting it after being a boss for a PVP event.
