Defenders 033: Razor
December 29, 2011
Razor for Chrys7; usernames Chrys1-6 were taken. Get your vote on for tomorrow’s hero in the most recent thread on r/Dota 2.
Razor was one of my go to heroes back in the day (2004 ish?), although he probably shouldn’t have been. At the time, he had chain lightning, a movespeed/hp regen passive, frenzy, and static charge (I think) for an ult. Only two activateables (but no escapes), and this simplicity appealed to me as a noob. Like Sniper, Razor is probably another one of those heroes I shouldn’t have been picking, and probably never played “correctly”. Still, his attack animation was hard to beat.
He’s seen a lot of changes since then, probably for the better. There seems to be a trend in modern Dota heroes that is leaning away from passive skills in favour of more active abilities. I think this generally makes the heroes more exciting to play, and to watch.
Is this something you’ve noticed as well, or is it just me? How do you think the Dota of today compares with versions gone by?
