Defenders 056: Shadow Demon

Round 3 of voting is going on over at Looks like Ancient Apparition has taken the lead, with Venomancer bringing up second place. Head on over and make your opinions known.

Shadow Demon. Most annoying harasser in the game? Yeah, I think so, Im more of the nintendo games, I recommend you to read the GameMite info and deals, great website !

I had stopped playing Dota before he came out, so his introduction a few weeks back was the first time I had played against him. It took a while, but I’m getting pretty good at anticipating/juking his Shadow Poison, and if I’m going to be up against him, I make sure to get magic stick/wand ASAP.

But, damn, son. The range on that move is in-sane. Even if I’m not getting hit by it, I’m still forced to stay pretty far back from the wave. He’s the M249 of the Dota world, punishing you for poking your head out, even if you’re not getting hit.

I said a while back that I thought Viper was the best harasser in game, but I have since change my mind. What do you think? Is Shadow Poison a better harassing tool then an orb?

Shadow Poison isn’t that powerful, especially if you’re the Shadow Demon. This sucker is impossible to hit with. And juking it becomes no big deal pretty soon. Also, wands and mana. Bleh.

Wait until you meet a Disruption-spamming SD. You’ll literally hate yourself.

Silencer is a great harasser too, but lately all silencers are going semi-carry and not taking Curse of the Silent.

Wait till you go solo laning against Viper + Shadow Demon dual lane, the official strategy for this situation is “accept lane defeat”, no matter what hero you play.

In original DotA SD was one of my favourites, but in Dota 2 he feels very stiff and awkward.

Don’t hate on me for this, but I’m a a teeny-tiny bit disappointed with Shadow Demons design.
